‘’On the tour’’….Futures in Kazakhstan (F1-F2-F3) and Greece F3
After 3 months out of the tour, on 24th of February (last tournament in India at 25th November) except my matches for the Davis Cup in Bosnia), I was back again..! As probably you know at the moment i serve the Greek army and it was quite difficult to be free, to play earlier (even it was difficult to train everyday, especially the last 2 weeks) but finally i started with a future tournament in indoor hardcourts...!
So, from Aktobe in Kazakhstan, with the temperature -24 degrees Celsius, after a thriller match for the first round finally i lost...!
It was the third time on the tour that i had match point and i lost, this time 64,67(4),57 from Shyla Yaraslau (ATP SR 733) from Belarus...! So, 6-4 for me the first set by break his serve two times and he once, then on the second set without break i lost by 76(4) in the tiebreak and in the third it was really crazy the situation...! 2-2, he break me, 3-2 for him, i broke him back and hold 4-3 for me, hold both and 5-4 for me and 40-30 for me match point...! From this moment he played perfect...! He hold by serving so good (his height is 1.96) and then he broke me in a very tough game with a lots of rallies and another hold, but closed game again for the 7-5 for him...! Anyway, i did almost the best i could, considering the low turnout of tournaments, but to tell you the truth its so hard to lose again from match point...!
For the doubles we won first round and then we lost in quarters…!
Second week here in Aktobe and almost same story…!
It's really hard…! I was playing against Fayziev, Sanjar (ATP SR:1023) from Uzbekistan, for the first round and i was playing really good...! First set for me by 62 and in the second i was 3-0 up in the tiebreak and then 5-4 up....but i lost it 57...! Ok...third set starts and iam up by 3-0 in games and finally....i lost the set by 46...! I really dont know what to say, but for sure i felt very nervous, so I decided not to play doubles in this tournament and practice hard for the third week…!
Finally the third week here in Aktobe started nice... I won 64,62 by playing quite good in the critical points and having my serve in a big day...! 10 aces and 4 out of 6 break points with just 1 double fault, compare to my opponent, Nikiforov, Alexey (ATP S.R.: 1426) from Russia, which he had 5 aces, 1 out of 6 break points and 5 double faults...! It was really tough in the fist set and i was feeling tight due to my results in the past 2 weeks but in the second set i was feeling better and more relaxed...!
Who says that history repeats itself it would probably're absolutely right...!
Second round against Lebedev, Ilya (ATP S.R.:1565) from Russia and one match more, lost from match point up... ! 36 for him, 63 for me the first 2 sets, very tough, very close and 33 in the third set when he holded and then broke my serve for 5-3 for him...! I broke back and hold for 55 by playing quite good and then after two easy holds for each one to go in the tiebreak and again iam 5-3 down...! There i play excellent to lead 6-5 and return for the match but finally i lost 6-8...! This was the 4th match i lost from match point...!
In doubles I did semis in this tournament together with my partner Ayap, Sagadat ( ATP D.R.: 1392) from Kazakhstan.
Its difficult like this to gain confidence, but for sure this kind of situations make you tougher and really a better fighter...!
After these very tough tournaments I was back in Greece, for 2 weeks preparation with my training team, to go to play in Crete outdoor hardcourts…!
The ''4th Hellenic Zeus ITF Pro Circuit'' was already in the 3rd week and I was there to play again for the 4th consecutive year...! Iam always happy when iam in this tournament and i enjoy a lot the friendly atmosphere, while i can never forget that there I got my first professional points last year...!
But…2 days there were enough finally to breakdown my nerves for one more time...! For the singles match against Zaitsev, Anton from Russia ( ATP S.R.:401) i was 63 up, 4-2 up and i lost the set 46 and in the 3rd set i was 3-1 up and i lost the set 36 and of course, also the match...! My partner in doubles, Botzer Bar Tzuf from Israel (ATP D.R.:1559) lost his single match in the same morning from 54 and 40-0 up on serve in the 3rd set...so as you can imagine, while we took the 1st set in doubles, finally we lost easy in the super tiebreak in the 3rd set...! Last 6 of 8 tournaments i lost 4 matches from match ball up and in the other 2 i was set up and break up in the 2nd or in the 3rd...! THIS MUST BE STOPPED...!!!
